Personal Training

Personal Training Sessions are based on three main components for each client:

1. Current Physical Capabilities = We will determine what your joints, muscles and overall physical health will allow you to do today.

2. Needs = The basics. By establishing a foundation of muscular strength, endurance and stability we will ensure that you are physically prepared to optimize your health and fitness.

3. Goals = After working on the first two components for a period of time and establishing your foundation, we can address more appropriately what it is you want to achieve.

Note - you begin to work towards what you want to achieve from Day 1. However, long-term adherence and success will be much more likely with a well planned and properly supervised program. There is no "Magic" here.

The Process:

Prior to any training there is a no-cost consultation that allows you the opportunity to ask questions about the program, my background and training methods.  At the same time I will also gather relevant health information from you. If you and I agree to a personal training contract we will then schedule the initial session. Payment must be made prior to the start of the first session. The initial session may include a musculoskeletal evaluation to determine ranges of motion at the major joint areas. Otherwise the training program will begin with an emphasis on the following areas:

Exercise Mechanics - This involves learning joint positions and motions as they relate to various exercises. This is the "how to" of resistance training.

Control - Being able to control and manipulate speed of movement is important. Control is also vital

in establishing joint stability and an awareness of what you're doing. This is the "what's working" of

resistance training.

Micro-progression - Adding small increments of intensity when appropriate. This is where we train to build tolerance, not to see how much you can tolerate.
